They had comissioned Catherine Howard Designs to design their logo and help them print their own Tshirts

We are delighted to welcome back Barnard Castle School for their end of year exhibition here at Nest Gallery, Café & Studios. The exhibition starts Sunday 19th May with their 'Afternoon Tea' Preview from 4pm to 6pm. Why not come along and see what new talent we have exhibiting this year.

A Weekend of Poetry in Teesdale

There will be three poetry events in Teesdale during the second weekend in June. On Friday 7th June Teesdale Words creative writing group will give a performance of both traditional and contemporary work inspired by the local landscape. They will be joined by Neil Diment who will introduce the audience to the life and work of Richard Watson, The Teesdale Bard.

This performance is one of the launch events for the Dalescape Walking Festival. The event is being held at NeST gallery, 25 Newgate, Barnard Castle, DL12 8NG from 6.30- 8.00p.m. Entry is free to holders of festival tickets or £5 on the door.

On Saturday 8th June walkers/writers are invited to join poet Judith Lesley Marshall for a creative writing walk leaving Bowlees Visitor Centre at 10a.m. Participants will follow the route of the new Richard Watson Poetry Trail created by the A.O.N.B. for 2013. Judith will read from Richard's work at appropriate points during the 3 mile circuit and invite people to draw inspiration from the history and geology of the area.

This is one of three creative walks being held during the festival weekend. Further details of the Wild Photography and Landscape Arts walks can be found on www.discoverdurhamdales.co.uk. Places for all walks must be booked in advance either via the website or the booking line on 03000 262626.

The weekend ends with a quirky workshop on 'Vowel Movements' on Sunday 9th June. Performance poet Jenni Pascoe, winner of the 2010 Lamplight and Hexham Book Festival Slams, will encourage budding writers to create poetry with a playful twist.

This event is being held at NeST in conjunction with Apples & Snakes North East. The workshop begins at 4p.m. and will be followed by a performance at 5p.m. Places cost £5 and can be booked in advance via NeST gallery on 01833 695172 or by emailing barnardcastlenest@gmail.com
