NeST are delighted to present the work of two new artists from Lime Street Studios in Newcastle.
Eileen Rowell and Sue Woolhouse are taking part in 'The Natural World' exhibition which opens on Sunday 22nd January at 4p.m. Eileen is exhibiting a series of oils on canvas in bright colours which convey a sense of warmth and fun. Eileen distorts images to symbolise her response to life, lending a quirky feel to her paintings which reflect her moods, feelings and the environment she finds herself in.The strong sense of colour, rhymes and patterns in her work reflect her passion for colour, line and form.
Eileen graduated as a mature student from Sunderland University where Sue began her career in the North East as a freelance lecturer. Since 1989 Sue has worked from Lime Street Workshops and Studios in the Ouseburn Valley. She developed her interest in cast glass while studying for an M.A. at the Royal College of Art in London.
Sue specialises in the design and fabrication of architectural glass, gifts and awards. Each cast encapsulates aspects of nature taken directly from fossils, plants and fishes, as well as using a variety of techniques appropriate to each individual piece.
Work by both of these artists is now available to preview and purchase online through either the 'artists' or 'shop' pages.
